Pediatric Stroke Awareness Quilt
The word “stroke” may not immediately evoke images of children, but the reality is that 1 in 4,000 newborns and 6 in 100,000 children suffer pediatric strokes each year.

Elijah, an adorable, active 4-year-old, suffered from a stroke before he was born and visits Ranken Jordan – A Pediatric Specialty Hospital each week for highly specialized therapy. He and his mom, Jennifer, are proud to share a very special quilt that’s traveled the country. It was sewn by Margie Zielinski from Bristol, Pennsylvania and completed in this year. The quilt dons photos of children who have suffered from pediatric strokes, and is accompanied by an album that outlines each child’s story. The colorful quilt and the inspiring stories that go with it will be on display in the Ranken Jordan lobby for the next two weeks.
