About Ranken Jordan

We’re your bridge between hospital and home

At Ranken Jordan, we provide care for children and young adults from birth to 21 who are ready to leave a traditional hospital but still need medical services and support before returning home. Located in the heart of the Midwest, we specialize in helping children and their families navigate complex conditions, illnesses, and injuries, bridging the gap between hospital and home with compassion and expertise.

Every inch of our state-of-the-art facility is designed with children in mind, fostering physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional healing. Inspired by those we serve, our mission centers on reimagining what is possible offering hope for a brighter future.

Philosophy of Care Statement

At Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, we support every child’s healing and growth by treating them as whole individuals. Our Care Beyond the Bedside approach fosters play, movement, and connection within a safe and healing environment. We partner with families, working with, not to or for them, honoring their voices and empowering them to lead both within and beyond the hospital setting. This partnership extends to meet the evolving needs of our inpatient and outpatient populations through creative, community-centered, and family-driven solutions; building resilience and helping children and families live their best lives.

Care Beyond the Bedside

Encouraging Kids to Be Kids

Our vibrant, patient-centered 60-bed facility and nurturing environment are the backdrop for inspiring stories that unfold daily at Ranken Jordan. Our innovative Care Beyond the Bedside model encourages young people to engage with others in our colorful, light-filled spaces, allowing them to spend about 70 percent of their waking hours outside their rooms.

At Ranken Jordan, play and therapy blend seamlessly. Play is integral to healing, so Ranken Jordan provides ample opportunities to encourage play, therapy, socialization and movement. Our barrier-free outdoor sports field, putting greens, garden areas, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, a rock-climbing wall, therapy pool and art room all support the therapeutic nature of play. We also have a dedicated teen room where kids can relax, play video games and just be themselves.

How Ranken Jordan is Reimagining Pediatric Hospital Care
Our mobile medical equipment ensures that we can provide care wherever someone is receiving therapy, playing, or socializing. Our shared dining spaces foster interaction, helping kids connect rather than eating alone.
The opportunities for kids to be kids are endless as they learn to be more independent and prepare to return home.

We thoughtfully consider every detail of care, ensuring families are well-prepared with the necessary skills and equipment for a smooth transition home. We are dedicated to connecting families with needed resources, including education, transportation, and outpatient programs and services.

The YES Team

An Experienced Team Brings Passion and Positivity

Our passionate and motivated team, including physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, and child life specialists, partners with children and their families to encourage progress through individualized treatments. We pride ourselves on being leaders and innovators who provide a comprehensive continuum of care.

Every day at Ranken Jordan, children are surrounded by positivity and encouragement. Our team embodies the philosophy of YES and our commitment to possibility: YES, you can play and socialize while on a ventilator. YES, you can enjoy the outdoors. YES, you can do this!

Our collective approach focuses on “What would it take to…?” instead of “We can’t.” This positive philosophy leads to breakthroughs, continuous innovations, and improved outcomes for the incredible kids in our care.
