Halloween is a favorite holiday for many children and young adults. Traditions include carefully selecting a pumpkin, carving a perfect face, and scooping out the seeds for a baked salty treat later. Children pour over their costume options for days, even weeks, before finally deciding on just the right disguise. Then they cross their fingers hoping for the weather to cooperate on trick-or-treat night.
The joys of this holiday should be celebrated by any child who wants to participate, even those in the hospital. That’s why Ranken Jordan encourages our young patients to dress up and join our annual Halloween Parade each year to foster coping and normalcy while in the hospital.
This year’s Halloween Parade was sponsored by Rhodey Construction, whose generous gift helped patients have a spooky good time while they recover. Each patient had the opportunity to choose their favorite character, superhero or spooky outfit to wear during the Halloween festivities.
Pam Duffy, president of Rhodey Construction and member of the Ranken Jordan Board of Directors, says she thrilled to have her company sponsor this event. “We wanted to ensure the patients would not miss out on the chance to make Halloween memories with their friends and family,” says Pam.
Halloween is another example of how Ranken Jordan delivers Care Beyond the Bedside® with activities like the much-anticipated costume parade and even a haunted house, designed and staffed by the patients. By encouraging dress-up, crafts, and festivities, Ranken Jordan provides patients with a sense of control, fun, and normalcy, during their hospitalization.
As the official Halloween Parade sponsor, the Rhodey Construction team had a chance to join in the fun and make memories of their own! Dressed in construction worker ‘costumes’ they cheered on the patients, handed out balloons, stickers, and smiles throughout the parade.
Thank you to Pam Duffy and our friends at Rhodey Construction, for making this Halloween unforgettable for our patients!
