Individualized, Expert Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation
Patients receiving care at Ranken Jordan after a spinal cord injury will typically have goals related to:
- Mobility: moving and transferring in various environments with equipment as needed
- Self-care skills: dressing, showering, toileting, etc.
- Prevention of health complications
- Participation in recreation and leisure
- Return to school/work
- Equipment to maximize mobility, function and accessibility at home, school and in the community
- Psychosocial and emotional well-being
It’s important to regularly assess and identify what barriers are present that may limit progresstowards goals and towards eventual discharge to home. Work with your care team and therapyteam to regularly identify and discuss barriers. This list may change throughout your child’s stay.
Expectations for Therapies
- Reference your child’s schedule or ask the nurse when your child’s therapies are for the day
- Ask for help to get your child up and ready for therapy sessions
- Help your child practice skills outside of therapy sessions
- Review and progress through education topics outlined by the care team
