St. Louis, July 14, 2022 – After leading Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital through transformative expansion and the recent pandemic, president and CEO Brett Moorehouse has announced his intent to step down at the end of 2022.

Moorehouse has served Ranken Jordan for more than 16 years. He was the hospital’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer before being appointed to President and CEO in 2018.

“It’s been a privilege to have worked with Brett. He is the epitome of a servant leader – as well as a champion for our patients and families,” said Betsy Prosperi, Ranken Jordan Board Chair. “It is Brett’s nature to focus deeply on what is important to him – and we have seen that focus guide Ranken Jordan through some big transitions in the organization and unprecedented challenges in sustaining exceptional care during a pandemic.”

Moorehouse oversaw the physical transformation and $35 million expansion of the specialty children’s hospital in 2018, adding 30 new beds and an additional 75,000 sq. ft. of space. As CEO, he continued that growth mindset investing in the hospital’s culture, partnerships and people. Ranken Jordan’s staff has grown by 50 percent, enabling the hospital to serve more children than ever before.

“Ranken Jordan has not only been the highlight of my career, but also my passion for 16 years,” Moorehouse said.“Miracles happen here. I’m so proud of the work we do and the team we’ve built to care for children with complex medical needs. The pandemic prompted me to reflect on my life, my goals and my achievements and I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished with a remarkable team. After much thought and deliberation, I’ve concluded this is the right decision, the right time.”

Ranken Jordan’s Board of Directors has convened a search committee and plans to retain an executive search firm with healthcare expertise to assist in finding the next president and CEO. In the meantime, the board will work closely with Moorehouse and the leadership team to prepare for and ensure a smooth transition.
