After Nicole began working as a Ranken Jordan nurse, she shared with her family how much she enjoyed caring for patients, especially on the east unit. Her grandparents, Marie and Al, were delighted to see their granddaughter so happy and wanted to do their part to support.
Marie, an avid sewer who especially enjoyed making quilts, reached out to her granddaughter’s workplace to ask about the current patient needs. As it happens, we were in need of specifically twin-sized quilts. Marie eagerly took on the task! Over the next few months, she sewed seven quilts and arranged a time to personally deliver them to the hospital. When they arrived at Ranken Jordan, Marie and Al were amazed by the wonderful work being done. They were inspired by the mission and promised to continue making quilts moving forward.
Thanks to generous individuals like Marie and groups such as the Linus Project and Quilt Guild, we are pleased to provide every patient admitted to Ranken Jordan with their own personal quilt or blanket. A warm blanket – just one of many small steps we take to bring homelike touches to each patient’s time at Ranken Jordan.
