Shawn Dryden
President & Chief Executive Officer
Shawn serves as the president and CEO of Ranken Jordan where he is responsible for all inpatient and outpatient operations and strategy and the continued success of the 60-bed hospital that has cared for children with medical complexities since 1941. Ranken Jordan is an independent post-acute care hospital focused on caring for children with medical complexities.
Shawn joined Ranken Jordan Jan. 1, 2023. He brings more than 20 years of healthcare administration experience, inclusive of leadership positions at BJC HealthCare, Hospital Sister’s Health System, and SSM Health.
During his tenure with BJC HealthCare, Shawn held several leadership positions at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, including strategic and operational responsibility for key clinical service lines and development of the organization’s master facility plan. He led the design and construction team through phase I of the plan that included a $49.8M, 150,000 sq. ft. addition that housed a new oncology center, emergency department, cardiac and vascular inpatient services, and ortho/neuro/spine inpatient services. In 2008, Shawn joined Sacred Heart Hospital (a member of Hospital Sister’s Health System) in Eau Claire, Wis. There, he had responsibility for the strategic development and operational performance of all tertiary care services across the division’s two hospitals.
Most recently, Shawn served at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital as the vice president for pediatric and maternal ambulatory services. Under his leadership, Cardinal Glennon established new subspecialty centers to drive growth and improve access to care in south county, north county, and the metro east. He was instrumental in the launch of Cardinal Glennon’s Complex Medical Care program, which provides outpatient-based, comprehensive care coordination that addresses the entire continuum of clinical and community care needs of patients and their families. In addition, Shawn helped shape and develop STARS (Special needs Tracking Awareness Response System). STARS is the first program of its kind in the country designed to improve emergency care for children with medical complexities. The program trains EMS personnel on emergency care plans tailored to a child’s unique needs so that when an emergency arises upon discharge from the hospital, EMS teams are prepared to provide the very best patient care.
Shawn earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan. He resides in St. Louis with his wife and three children.
