What is Intensive Therapy?

Intensive therapy involves multiple specialized therapists for several hours of individualized therapy with children and young adults. Sessions typically include:

  • Multiple therapy specialists, such as physical, occupational, or speech-language pathology therapists working togehter with your child;
  • Up to three hours per day of therapy;
  • Individualized therapy plans based on the patient’s therapeutic needs and tolerance to therapy; and,
  • Therapy designed to focus on the patient’s/family’s goals.

Who may benefit from Intensive Therapy?

Any child with functional therapeutic goals for mobility, feeding, or communication may be appropriate for Intensive Therapy. The frequency and duration of the intensive program will be determined by the family along with the therapy team.
