Moving and Groovin’: Kye is Walking!

This past fall, we introduced you to Kye. Born premature at just twenty-five weeks, Kye has complicated heart and lung conditions. He spent 10 months in acute care hospitals before coming to Ranken Jordan in November 2023. When Kye first arrived, he was not able to do much. However, after spending time out of his crib, particularly in OZ, Kye began smiling, clapping, and making noises. He loves music and moves along to songs, making hand motions to “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “Wheels on the Bus.” As time progressed, he began hitting more developmental milestones, including sitting up, standing, and even walking!

Kye’s journey is a difficult one. His conditions are medically complex and require a lot of care. Thanks to Kye’s dedicated medical team and support from donors, he is able to receive the medical care he requires in a place that also ensures he reaches his full potential in every aspect of his life.

His mom, Cassie, would love for Kye to be at home with his three older siblings, but she knows that Ranken Jordan is the best place for him right now. Living three hours away from Ranken Jordan adds to their burden. Donor support has been significant in assisting Cassie and her family with transportation and lodging for their visits to Kye. Additionally, the team at Ranken Jordan utilizes technology to set up secure drop-in links so Cassie can be present at Kye’s therapy appointments and OZ sessions.

Kye continues to make great strides towards the ultimate goal of going home! Your support has allowed him to make the most of his childhood so far.
